WDM-TDM PON which is combined by TDM PON and WDM PON technology, is regarded as a trend in future development. Establishing a new OAN with larger capacity, higher speed and full service operation, can not only solve the problem of insufficient bandwidth, but also lower the costs compared with WDM PON technology.
1.WDM-TDM Technology
Each WDM-TDM PON OLT module occupies a wavelength channel in downstream to begin broadcast network transmission. Multiple WDM-TDM PON ONU modules will occupy a CWDM channel after TDM technology.WDM passive devices, such as AWG, DWDM/CWDM modules are used in optical MUX/DEMUX nodes.

2.CWDM-TDM Technology
In this implementation of WDM- TDM, each WDM-TDM PON OLT module occupies a wavelength channel in downstream to begin broadcast network transmission, and DWDM or CWDM passive devices are used in optical MUX / DEMUX nodes. While in upstream, multiple GEPON ONU/GPON ONU modules occupy a CWDM channel after TDM technology, and passive devices, such as CWDM or splitters are used in optical MUX/DEMUX nodes. It depends on the occupied channels in your optical network to choose fiber or single-fiber network solution.

You can use CWDM or DWDM technology in upstream and downstream in this networking solution.

3. WDM and TDM Lin Technology
In this WDM-TDM network relay technology, X-LINK with a WDM SFP, GEOPN/GPON OLT module is set in terminal devices. Multiplex optical signals will be transferred into electrical signals from GEPON/GPON ONUto OLT by TDM technology, and the WDM PON ONU will be driven by electrical signals to input continuous optical signals to OLT. While in downward direction, continuous optical signals will be transferred into electrical signals from WDM PONOLT to ONU through a optical channel, after that the GEPON/GPON OLT is driven to input optical signals incontinue mode. WDM passive devices, such as AWG, DWDM/CWDM modules are used in optical MUX/DEMUX nodes.
